Time Flies…..

On the 10th of December 09, Baz resigned from Stawell Gold Mine.
We had been given the opportunity to return to SA and we grabbed it with two hands!

Then the whirlwind started, in true Baz style we had 10 days to move as Christmas with the family in Adelaide was our aim.
So we let all our dear friends know we were going, a lot of shocked faces, but many new it would happen sooner then later.

I had to organising a new school for Cale, Fulltime kindy for Kai and start packing.
Baz handled finding housing for the start of the new year, removal of our gear from the farm and tenants for our house.

Baz worked his last shift on the 20th, he was sick in the end so only a half day which was a blessing. He had confirmed a house for us to move into in and drove a fully packed panel van over to Adelaide, stayed overnight and picked up a removal truck first thing Monday morning. Baz and Barry Snr, travelled back to Vic, and then the packing blitz started!
I had been working my but off getting stuff into boxes but was dragging the chain! Thanks to Trae and Loz who got me motivated again, I owe you so much!!
Finally the boys arrived and once again it came the time to pack our life into a truck.
Special thanks to all who called in over the afternoon and lent a helping hand, Pood and Trae (your sandwiches rocked!), Kelly, Julie, Doug and Kim, every little bit helped!
Late in the evening our truck was at capacity, limbs and minds where exhausted so we camped in our farm house for the last time.

We arouse early to do a final sweep and scrub, and hit the road – Baz, Cale and chooks in the Truck, Dad and Kai in the troopy with cage trailer and me with Kaysha, Dozer and the quails and budgies towing the Moto x trailer. After a long days drive finally we made it, straight to the new rental to drop off our gear, thanks to Boundy and Patrice and Mum, extra hands made our unpacking so much easier as we were totally exhausted!

Once the truck was empty we headed to mum and dads for our xmas break, we just left our gear at the house to unpack on Boxing Day.

Christmas was wonderful; Mum cooked an amazing feast topped off with a very special family built dessert tower. The kids got way too many presents, we all ate too much, Skyped most of my family but it was such an awesome feeling to finally be HOME!

We spent Boxing Day setting up rooms and unpacking the essentials and filling the shed with things we just didn’t have room for anymore…… Lazy days mostly just chilling with the kids at the beach and fishing at Wirrina.

Our new years eve was meant to be a quick relaxing camping trip to Goolwa Beach, On the way we had some not so good news about Kel, Marks partner (who is on the mend now!) and as soon as we hit the beach we starting thinking the weather was not great but hoped it wouldn’t get any worse.
After driving around we stopped at the river mouth to throw out a few lines and cool off. Patrice was the only one who caught anything, and within about ½ an hour the wind had changed from warm and humid to very cool. Setting up camp was our next adventure so we picked a spot to take shelter and enjoy a few beers and nibbles.
After the sand filled food, we headed out onto the beach to check out anywhere to put in a line. Our drive just found more bad weather and a quick check of the forecast on the iphone, the call was made to head back to Seaford and enjoy the rest of our night there!
Oh what a night – showered and refreshed, drinks and yummy food, great company, happy kids and a walk down to the esplanade to watch whatever firework we could see bought in the New Year oh so well!

Baz started work with Cavpower on the 4th Jan. His new job is based at the open cut mine site at Prominent hill (near Coober Pedy). He works a 9 days on 5days off roster as a Site Support Supervisor, looking after a large fleet of huge mining trucks and the guys who fix them.

Now many of you know how we have felt in the past about commuting, but the time has come to make a little sacrifice now and Baz hopes to secure a job with Cavpower out of the Enfield office within a 2yr period. This is his dream job to work with the open cut machinery and the company which will give him the opportunities to make a great career in an industry that makes the money he loves. Plus now we live 2 mins from the beach and every 5 days off are like a holiday.

I am coping with the kids too, School and kindy are just around the corner, Dellows, Eagles and friends we haven’t seen for years are just down the road, Tori will be starting another year at Boarding school, Laurel n Seth are a few hrs away, McGauchies, Mark n Kel are only 6 not 12 hrs away and Sis from Perth is only 1 flight away so I am happy! So Happy!

Whilst Baz was away last block, Cale completed Vacswim at Moana Beach, Mum, Dad and Marks family took the boys to the beach, made me dinner and had the boys overnight to give me a break, the boys will start school and Kindy next week, Kai has 4 afternoons a week at Cale’s school, all the kids will start swimming lessons in Feb and there are so many other things that will come to fruition throughout the year!

This block I am looking forward to relaxing days and setting of routines, my mum and sis will be down for Australia day so I’ll plan a quiet day and head out for fireworks in the evening.

My main wish that this blog fills your heart with the joy and happiness that is now overflowing from mine, my gorgeous friend Kathy has a quote on her facebook page which I often click back to and feel that it is so true, “To many people look for security rather then opportunity. Don’t do what is safe, do what will challenge you and make you grow!” this year I am up to the challenge, how about you?
xx
